Dining out coupons (and more…)

Have you noticed they have alot of good coupons in the Metro and the Bohemian free newspapers?  I always want to use those, but don’t necessarily want to keep the paper around cluttering up my living space after I have read it.  Instead I just go here:  Metroactive and print them out.  Convenient!

Free tote bag in Oakland

Oakland public libraries will be giving away free reusable tote bags on Thursday, April 22nd (while supplies last) to celebrate Earth day.

Locations: Oakland’s Main Library or any branch library, The African American Museum & Library (659 14th Street),  or the Bookmark Bookstore (721 Washington Street).

The bags are courtesy of the Public Works Agency, Oakland Recycles, and Waste Management of Alameda County.

For more information click here or call 510-238-3134.

You can never have too many tote bags!  (but if you do, you can give it to a friend)

Free books!

Today I was at one of my favorite bread bakeries, Wild Flour Bread in Freestone, CA.  No deals to be had there, but I highly recommend you go there if you are in the area, and try the Green Goat bread (made with green onions and goat cheese) or the Fougasse (potato bread with rosemary, garlic and cheese) or pretty much anything they make there because it’s all INCREDIBLE.   Also the staff there is super friendly and they happily give out samples of everything so you can taste before you buy.  Great place.

Anyway, while I was there I noticed this sign:

…who knew they even had a bookmobile anymore?  They had all kinds of books completely free!  You can check out a schedule of where they’ll be in upcoming weeks here:  Sonoma County Bookmobile.  And if you have excess books that you want to donate you can do that too…pass them along and let somebody else enjoy them!

Finney’s Friday Free Stuff

I have to tell you I have gotten some of my best free goodies by watching Finney’s Friday Free Stuff.  For those who haven’t seen this before, he is a local consumer reporter who gives away free stuff every week on the news.  We have gotten lots of great stuff this way including grocery items, restaurant freebies, tickets to the zoo and the Red & White ferry and even to the Sesame Street show Elmo’s Green Thumb! lol

All you have to do is watch the ABC7 news at 5:00pm every Friday to see what they are giving away this week.  Then go to the ABC7 website and find out the information about where to send your SASE.  I suggest mailing it first thing Monday morning as quantities of most items are limited so you have a better chance of getting one if you get your envelope there early.

**Sorry to the out of towners, but this is good for San Francisco Bay Area folks only!**

Free zip line rides in San Francisco!

Wow…all this week you can ride a zip line over Justin Herman plaza for free courtesy of the British Columbia tourism office!  This looks SO fun to me, but unfortunately I am terribly afraid of heights, so sadly I’ll have to leave this one to my more adventurous friends…  Let me know if you go and be sure to post a photo.

Details:   now until April 18th, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm  and you need to show up early and get a wristband for a scheduled time later in the day.   I think it’s worth it to get to do this for free though!
